ALBUM DESCRIPTIONS

Living in a Daydream (2022) is Miguel Espinoza Flamenco Fusion’s third full length album. Perhaps their most innovative and dynamic work to date, this latest release features eight original compositions — four in collaboration with two time Grammy winner Howard Levy (harmonica/piano). Gracefully defiant in form, style, and structure, the musicians explore new sonic textures, shaped but not defined by their myriad creative influences. Yet, for all its dexterity and vision, Living in a Daydream is spared none of the organic, expressive nuance and raw emotion that we’ve come to expect from this group.

Gabriella (2023) is Miguel Espinoza Fusion’s fourth full-length album. 10 original compositions form an alchemical opus blending flamenco with Afro-Cuban, Moroccan, gypsy-swing, Carnatic, and Celtic musical traditions, peppered with echoes of 70s jazz-fusion and funk. This is MEF at their most imaginative, versatile, and adventurous. With a voice that is robustly organic, Gabriella evokes sounds of the natural world into a synesthetic dance with the mirth and anguish of the human experience. Each track is characterized by a distinct mood and tonal palate, free from the confines of formal structure, yet flows seamlessly from one to the next. The band’s core line-up welcomes collaboration with Grammy winners Howard Levy (harmonica) and David Balakrishnan (violin), as well as Grammy nominated David Hagedorn (vibraphone). Further contributions are made by Priya Hariharan (Carnatic violin and vocals), Victor Mestas Perez (piano), Nabin Shrestha (tabla), and Christian Teele (percussion).
